Water Born

The Ojai Valley is home. It’s a sacred place surrounded by mountains with two roads in and out, one leading directly to Rincon in Carpenteria, CA. On small days Rincon yields a perfect little wave with next to zero crowd. This was our introduction to the ocean, surfing pristine little waves in clear water. From there we went sailing, diving, and hence kiting, and foiling, all of which connected us to the magic of the ocean. We love it, grateful for it, and also concerned for its welfare. We hope Salty Brother is a means to celebrate it and share the good.

quinn

Quinn’s a recent graduate of UCSB in Environmental Studies with a “minor” in film, and was awarded All-American for his performance on the UCSB Sailing Team. He’s a storyteller, obsessive competitor, jack of all trades water related, and an expert of some. Quinn rarely sits still, he’s an avid rock climber, mountain biker, and sport enthusiast. He’s recently back from venturing south by motorcycle in a quest to “learn something unfamiliar.” There’s little risk he’ll be leaving the ocean behind as no 48 hours pass without his toes getting salty.

dane

A touch older and much quieter than Quinn, Dane is no less restless. On the heels of a sabbatical from school, having qualified for the 2020 Olympic Sailing Team in 49ers, he’s just graduated from UCSD in Speculative Design where he combined art, photography, videography, and digital design solving yet to be encountered problems. Dane’s creativity translates to constant innovation in and on the water in sailing, kiting, and now winging and foiling. On that same front, there isn’t a piece of gear or a circumstance that Dane has encountered that somehow he hasn’t redesigned in his head, on paper, or in actual form.
